HEy where is first pass and second in divx 5.1.1

I got divx 5.1.1 and encoded a vid. Whast all this first pass and sceond pass all about casue in the guide they use divx 5.0 and that has frist pass and scond pass whereas divx 5.1.1 only has multi pass 1 and multi pass 2. And any ways when all the first pass is is audio so when u are finished encoding both of them only the second one is the actual video and audio. The other one has audio but the screen is all diefferent colours. COuld u just use 1 pass which works only encoding once?????

PS: what is better quality at encoding, DIVX or XVID??????

the pont of 2pass is for the first to scan the video for the appropiate compression for that certain frame. the second is encoding.
the first AVI file is worthless. the second is what you want.

1pass. use the quality rather than the cbr.

xvid and divx, it a matter of taste, some like divx and some like xvid. in truth is xvid is superior.

SO is only 1 pass bad???? SO to get good quality u have do 2 pass right????? Also I am going to try XVID soon and DVIX and see which one is better.
