Hello,

I used to own a 360, which i modded at home using my desktop pc. I just moved to college, and I bought a new xbox 360 for the dorm, and I want to flash the dvd drive. The only problem is, I only have my mac laptop down here. I have a friend with a pc laptop with an esata/usb port. I'm not a computer expert, so i don't know if this type of port will work when i plug the drive in. Does anyone have experience flashing a drive on a laptop, or heard of anyone who has successfully done so?

Thanks,

Kyle

Hi Kyle, you will need to figure out what chipset your friend has in his computer. To attempt dumping and flashing the 360 DVD drive, you will need a E-SATA to SATA cable. Click Here

Also, you might want to go ahead and open the 360 and figure out what DVD drive it has. I'm betting since it is new, you have a Lite-ON. I hope that it is the 83850C firmware revision as it won't require you to purchase any additional hardware. The 74850C Lite-ON requires the additional hardware. Here is a reference picture:
