I keep getting a message like winford engineering instalation disk is needed. Is there any other way to get drives recognized in windows.

I hope this helps. For some reason my anti-virus recognizes the file as a trojan. Go into device manager uninstal it completly. Turn off your anti-virus and if needed burn it to a disk since a disk is read only and install it manually. Then turn your ant-virus back on and go into settings and exclude that file from getting scanned by your anti-virus. I've done this and it works but somehow it still gets deleted from time to time. Thanks! 2Smoove

Ok so i have tried multiple times but still no luck. I turn off my anti virus then try to install portio32 and instead of saying missing it says unable please install manualy so thats a good sign but when i try install manualy i get the same problem it says:
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The system cannot find the file specified
Also when i turn on my anti-viruse it detects file as a trojen and deletes it. But i dont get anything about the winford engineering instalation disk. Please anybody help

It happened tome again. For some reason bitdefender zaps it regardles of what i do. one sure method is to uninstall your anti-virus completely and then re-install the portio32 file manually. I just had to do it recently. Webroot recognizes it as a trojan also.

the only solution i came up with was buy a cheap used computer. i installed the portio32 and flashed one xbox fine, came back 2 do another on JF showed portio32 has been removed...(AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT WAS REMOVED). i done everything known to mankind to install it back but didnt work. i tried deleting it and reinstalling it but it still wouldnt work. i just got another cheap basic computer and it works fine.

Okay, I got this to work now. Use this download "BUT" you will need the (DEVCON)(from the install manual folder)from the old downloads because this one only has (NT) and not DEVCON .. just drag the (DEVCON)to the new folder and follow the steps and it loads perfectly.
http://www.winfordeng.com/download/portio32_1.4.zip
1. First Open "Control Panel" and in the search box type in "hardware".
2. Under "Device Manager" you will see "Install drivers for older devices with Add Hardware wizard" select that.
3. Click Next and you will get to this screen. Select the option in the image then select next.
4. After it is done searching for hardware, click next and you will get to this screen.
5. Make sure you highlighted "Show All Devices" then click Next.
6. Click on "Have Disk..." and browse into the PortIO32 folder and go here ?Desktop\PortIO32\win\driver?.
7. Select the portio32.inf. If you don't know where to get portio32 download it here http://www.winfordeng.com/download/portio32_1.4.zip
8.Click next until it installs.
