I'm going to upgrade my Xbox to 1.6. It's a lighton.

Unfortunatly I originally flashed with JF 0.0.43b and need a few Q's

It appears I lost data, and need to input it manually. I can't remember opening up my Xbox. Is it hard or risky to open up the cover of the actual DVD drive or increadibly easy?

How important is this extra little bit of data?

Also on another note, I have the CK3 Pro. It used a standard PC power cable if I remember rightly to power it. I also remember reading that to originally flash it, you have to carefully pull out the green cabling and push it back in with in a second and was EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Why the Green cable and not the power cable going to the CK3?

What I did instead is used one of these to power the CK3,(it has a dedicated power supply, and has a on/off switch.)

And just turned the thing off? It seemed to have worked anyway!

well there should be a on/off switch on your ck3. at least there is on my extractor. just use that for the power on/off part.

as for your other question, the dvd case is only held together by four screws. the extra data is relatively important. just because MS can do a challenge on the drive and if it doesnt respond the way it should it can throw a flag. but its not really necessary as the drive can be flashed anyways.

but if you're simply updating your FW all you need to do is dump your dummy bin, erase and write.

edit--
your power switch on your ck3 is next to that white eject button.

My CK3 has only got a mode and a eject switch. I think the newer ones have the on/off.

Why does it say on the CK3 tut to remove the green power cable rather than the power to the CK3?

If it's fine the way i'm using then i'll carry on like it.

Thanks wabashman, i got Leerage's tutorial how to reflash a lite-on but i hate it when I can't follow something word for word. I think i'm right in saying with the latest JF, it prompts you to input this information when it needs it doesn't it?

not sure why it says green cable over the 4 pin molex. but i would do as it states. as for the prompts in JF, if it needs the barcode information, it will tell you that you need to rebuild it and will open up the screen so you can.

Been thinking about it. I remember it saying the power must be off for 1 second and no longer I believe. I repair PC's in work, and my logic is that you could take alot longer with a molex. It's a pain in the aris to remove/replug a molex as it is.

Ah well I got this magic bridge so I don't have to worry abou that anyway!

Arrggh.

Does anyone know if the fixer for the missing data has any validation on it?

There's one bit where I can't tell if it's a 0 or a O?

Also there a bit of pen on the PCB bit blanking out one of the numbers what I think is a 1
