Cutting traces on Xbox 360 controller

Hey, I am trying to mod my xbox 360 wireless controller and in the instructions it tells me to cut a couple of traces. What does this mean? I have googled it and nothing really has explained it to me that well. So if someone could tell me I would really appreciate it

no one wants to help you cheat on cod or gears!
just play the game and get better at it, dont cheat by turning every weapon you have into fully auto.
also remember when you do mod the thing and you get all the extra kills and your body burns with exitement from it, you cheated!
and every one in the game with you knows you cheated, so take no pride in your kills.

The traces are so microsoft cannot trace the rapid fire controller back to your console, they help in protecting your gamertag from being banned. You have to cut 2-3 straight lines down the middle of the controller. I used a dremel for mine, but I've read that a hacksaw will work just as well.


The ONLY controller mod (non-cosmetic) that is okay in my books is a fast reload mod, even that is borderline cheating.

So if I am never going to use this on xbox live then I don't have to worry about cutting the traces? or will the mod only work if I cut them?

lol I was being sarcastic, don't cut your controller if you want it to work! Ask the person you bought it from what a trace is.

a trace is what makes the circuit between two points on a circuit board.
if you look close enough you will see a small line betwenn point a and point b this small line is the trace..........
now go cut the shit out of your controler!
