I was fixxing a friend's 360 that was RRoD, when I was done, I was going to do the final phase (over heating) and when I plugged in my power supply it gave me a red light instead of the usual orange and it wont turn on. When I plug the power supply into my 360 there's no problem or when it's not plugged into his 360 period - there is no red light - a second or two after I plug it into his - red light!
I have researched this problem but all I get is "call micro$oft", "get another power supply" , etc... Here is what I know:
-The power supply is fine.
-The outlet is fine.
-The 360 isn't overheating, because it wont even turn on!
Could it be that some of the silver 5 is bridging a connection on the system board? or maybe the board got bowed a little too much? has anyone else had the problem?
Jarred121 I had that same problem on two xboxs since november of 08. This is from my experience with this issue. When you did the x-clamp fix something metal touched your motherboard. Which made a "short" in the motherboard. When you turn on your system the fans spins then shut off? your power light blinks green then goes orange/red color? I searched high and low for answers, last good answer I think a member gave was something to do with soldering. Be careful with the x-clamp fixes, follow the tutorial. Anything metal touches your motherboard when you turn on the x360(and the metal object is still there) you will always have this problem occur. Unless another member knows a fix for this problem, I suggest like the others and send it in to be repaired.
