rippo:

you can download full 83850c firmware from the net. both version 1 and version 2.
all you need is your dvdkey, wich you spoof into your downloaded firmware.
once you do that, you got stock firmware wich you can go back to in case something goes wrong.

Thanks for the answers, I need to be able to flash the original FW if I ever need to use my xbox warranty.

Bonus question :) ... Should I get an xbox that has 83850C V2 Lite-ON or wait for a more hackable series?

I think that there is no gurantee that you will get your stuff repaired. Not to be an ass but you will be downloading a bunch of games that well exceed the value of the console.

Hello all,

I have Lite-ON 83850C manufactured in July 2009. I've followed the tutorial (thanks leerage) and extracted the below:

Inquiry String saved to C:\Inquiry.bin
Identify String saved to C:\Identify.bin
Identify String saved to C:\Serial.bin
Dummy.bin file saved to C:\Dummy.bin
Key data saved to C:\Key.bin

Extracted drive key F685XXXXXXXXXXXXX1E082 (I've hidden the key)

Does the above look OK?

I want to spoof (for checking purpose) the Dummy.bin into a Samsung drive. The Samsung has iXtreme 1.61 FW but I no longer have the original FW.

Can I put back the Samsung FW back on after I try the Lite-ON dummy.bin?

Also, if by any chance I brick/burn/damage the Lite-ON can I buy a new one and use it on my Xbox?
Or will the whole console be useless?

Thanks

Device Intro failed! OMG OMG my hair is on fire !!!! (Dexter and Dee Dee) I've bricked my drive...

Well after a few moments of panic I managed to successfully erase the drive and write the iXtreme 1.61 on my Lite-ON.

Afterdawn threads helped me a lot.

Many thanks for the tutorial leerage!!!

What error message do you get once you plug the drive in normally to the 360?

If you erased your drive and it no longer works then you can use dosflash 32 to flash
or dosflash 64 bit

First...

Read the jungleflasher tutorial on their website in the downloads section.

Without having you go in there, make sure your drive is half tray. When you are about to retract it, pull out the power until is halfway closed. Then you should be able to get the key with ease.

Apologies if this has been asked / answered a hundred times but I did try to do a search for it and couldn't find any answer.
I have a pre-modded x-box that I purchased. Is the process for updating the drive the same. The guy that modded it for me told me that it wasa pre Aug 09 83850c Lite On drive.

@ dhfhy.
your drive is 9345
this is the latest drive out at the moment.
you will need to do some soldering and cut some traces on your dvd´s board to get the key.
after you have finnished you will have to remove all of the wires you have soldered and reconnect the traces you have cut.
i think there is a device you can get to attach to your drive but not that sure about it as i havnt read up on it yet.
