Well I feel like an idiot seeing as I have read the 'idiot proof' guide on this and several other forums but I'm just not connecting all the pieces. I've read several different views some saying you need a mod chip others say you don't I have a software called easy backup wizard that has very good reviews and several youtube acknowledgements saying all you need to do is put your 360 disc in your computer and make an iso and then burn it onto a blank disc, I've done this and when I put it in my console it thinks it's a dvd and when I try to play the 'dvd' it says it can't read the media. I have a dell inspiron 1501 laptop if that makes a difference.

You can't put a 360 disc in any ordinary PC DVD drive and expect to copy it. You will need to get a Samsung drive and flash it with Kreon firmware to allow it to read the 360 game.

Here is the list of drives that are able to be flashed with Kreon:

Samsung SH-D163A (SATA)
HP TS-H353A (SATA)
Samsung SH-D163B (SATA)
HP TS-H353B (SATA)
Samsung SH-D162C (IDE)
HP TS-H352C (IDE)
Samsung SH-D162D (IDE)
HP TS-H352D (IDE)

You can also use your 360 DVD drive. You will need to flash it with 0800 firmware.

Is there an external version of this drive all i have is a laptop and how do you flash the 360 drive?

You might be able to find a seller with a pre-flashed Kreon in an USB caddy.

You'll need xbox backup creator if you didn't know already,it's the free software used to create the iso

You've been scammed, my boy. YouTube is a cesspool of idiots who like to spam their little products to attract the noobies. All of them are fake, filled with viruses, among other things.
