sorry if this is in the wrong place but, used an xbox 360 xclamp replacment kit, (for E74 but when done the replacement and pluged it in to do the last step I had three flashing red light? (RROD?). I followed the instructions but can't get the last step to work, (the last step is to over heat it while it is still open and olny fan to be pluged in but) the fan dose not run for more that a second when my xbox is started up which i think is cutting of the power supply so i can't get it to over heat so im stuck with RROD (three flashing red light) CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE!

I am pretty sure the X-clamp fix won't fix the E74 error. That is an issue with the ANA/HANA chip and more than likely will need reflowed.

What happened is that something metal was touching your motherboard when you powered the x360 on. Basically creating a short in the motherboard. When you turn it on, the fan spins then stops, and your power light goes from green to orange/red. I did this to 2 xbox 360 when following a faulty x-clamp YOUTUBE video. I put the screws in upside down or i had a metal washer touching the motherboard. I heard the only fix for this requires soldering. Learn from your mistakes, as I did and be as careful as possible and check everything thoroughly.Get more than one set of directions and read them all. Also be careful not to scratch the motherboard when removing x-clamps, Dont know if that would cause the problem.

Do the x-clamp again make sure no metal is touching the motherboard. check the side with the heat syncs make sure the nylon washer is touching the motherboard, and not the metal washer. Most tutorials say 16 nylon washers and 16 metal washers. I just had this happen to me a few hours ago. I didnt have enough metal washer (Only 8) so i used them on the bottom of the motherboard along with 8 nylon washers. On the top of the motherboard i just used one nylon washer each. I got this error because my heat sync was touching. So i reversed it and the xbox went green again. Hope everything works out for you.

ton312-- when i had metal touching the mobo..As soon as I turned on the system... It would turn on and turn off instantly.. The power brick light would go red.. Then I added the nylon washers, system stays on with the rrod. but now orange light on the power brick..

If you get a red power light, when powering on the x360 you will need to get a reflow. I think gameover9 offers a reflow service or you can contact him with questions regarding the service. He said that in another thread.

You have shorted your motherboard somehow by touching metal to your motherboard. This happened to me and mine is still broken but i have heard of it working after it is shorted. Just check if anything metal is touching the motherboard.

does your xbox have red ring of death? if so visit this website http://red360.devhub.com/
