Since we can install the game to the HDD, does it matter now which media to burn in? I mean can I burn it to a cheap DVD DL other than the high quailty Verbatim brand which i usually burn with?

I mean you just install all the game files into the HDD and if you want to play it you just insert the cheap DVD DL in the drive and the 360 just check it and then you're able to play from HDD and the cheap media DVD DL is not needed, but only for disc checking and installation.
I can understand that you need high quality media if you play the game straight off the disc because of the constant reading/streaming needed to play, but since you can now play the full game off the HDD, you can just use cheap media right??? Or that is it still better off with Verbatim? Is the installation part important and that you need high quality media to install it???

There is a chance that using cheaper media, you might not even get through the install of the game and get a Dirty Disc Error or something like that.

My buddy bought a spindel of cheap Riteks and I can't even get through the burn process without it failing (gives the error about a dirty or damaged disc).

I'll stick with verbs.

Leerage is right (as always). I copied a couple of backups using Verbs for a friend of mine and he gave me two of his memorex discs in return. I thought no big deal since I install all my games anyway. One of the memorex discs worked fine but the other stopped installing at 94% and gave me the dirty disc error. I burned it again with one of my Verbs and of course it worked great. So yeah even if you install your games you could still get read errors by using cheaper media.

just go with verbs. i've seen a million of these topic about people asking which cheap dvds will work, and 99% of the time none of them work. just use verbatim.

Same happened here, I then did a direct copy from the cheapo disk to a Verb and it worked. I'm guessing my PC isn't as picky as a XBOX when it comes to cheap media
