I was wondering how the reverse engineering process even started with the PSP. Did someone get a hold of official Sony development software? Did someone just sit down with a hex editor and an update and start trying to find file headers? How did it start? I ask, and in this forum, because I'm tossing the idea around of seeing what I could possibly do with the PS3. As per the forum rules, I'm not looking for in depth information on how exactly it happened, but I'm wondering how in general it started. Also, what less publicized stuff has already been done with the PS3, if anything? I'm playing around with programming as a career path to study for, and I think this kind of experience would really help. I have played around with the concept of how cracking/hacking is done on PCs, but have no idea how people get into an external platform such as a PSP or PS3. Also, if someone knows of a real, reputable dev forum where they are actually doing stuff, I would be interested in that as well. Any useful information is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Doesnt expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected and therefore mean youre expecting the expected which was the unexpected until you expected it?

Well I'm off to bed right now for my early classes tomorrow morning (I hate mornings...) but the notification email peeked my interest. Those look like some very promising sources. I'm going to check those out when I get back. Thank you very much, I was starting to wonder if this thread was going to get buried.
