Backwards compatibility help!

I have a softmodded xbox 360 with a hitachi drive. I modded it before I bought a hard drive. Well now that I have a hard drive I'm trying to apply the patch to play xbox 1 games. It says it applied the patch and will show the title of the xbox 1 game on my dashboard but when I try to run the gam it said it cannnot start and to redownload the game again. I have tried to reformat the hard drive and apply the patch again but it does the same thing. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

where did you buy the drive from? if you got it from ebay, it could be a 'cloned' hard drive, and therefor it more than likely doesnt have the partition it needs for the backwards compatibility update.

Got it from a game store. Is there anyway to repartition it if that's the case?

You can create the partition, but you will need to extract Partition 2 from a 360 HDD that can already play XBOX1 games and restore it to your newly created Parition 2 on your HDD.

Dump all files from partition 2 from some HDD that has the emulator on it (either a 20 gb or 120 gb, doesn't matter), save those files from partition 2 to your PC. Attach your WD BEVS drive, and drag the 'index' file alone first to partition 2! After you've added this particular first file, you can add the rest to the partition.

yes thank you for your assistance it turns out it was the hard drive I returned it and made them give me another one and it works fine now. Thanks again!
