What if backup is launched through regular disk channel?

I just got my backup copy to run thanks to larrylje's writeup (I'm on 4.1 btw). When the SSBB disk is in and I open through NeoGamma R6 everything works fine. The disk does sound a little weird during loading, however nothing has messed up yet. Upon leaving the game I notice that the Wii recognizes that SSBB is in the system and has the menu up in its regular "play the game" channel.

What I'm worried about is whether or not loading backup copies through that will affect the system itself, I've read a lot of contradictory info about that.

Not to contradict you, but AFAIK If you do not have a modchip the Wii will not recognize the disc through the disc channel. It probably won't run if you try to launch it, either.

I have both hardmod and softmod so i cannot prove my theory.

If you installed cIOScorp 3.3 then you can run backups through your disc channel AFAIA aware.

Some softmodding appears to be showing the title in disc channel but won't actually run when you enter the channel I am not sure what causes this.

The Wii Channel can detect some titles and show the preview of the game in the disc channel. But when you launch it from it then you will get a read error. So use NeoGamma to launch the game (even though you can see the preview of the game in the disc channel).

ok perfect, so nothing to be afraid of if my housemates accidentally try to play it that method. Thanks for the speedy replies.
