was wondering whats going on. Was playing Mercs 2 and the picture went all popcornish on me with a few stripes of black and white.turned off and rebooted game, froze on tittle screen, rebooted again and RROD.
was looking at xbox.com and i get a free repair ticket..
when i turn off ,power supply is yellow. when i turn on its is green..
was wondering if this is a power supply issue or internal hardware.
also was wondering if your box is flashed they can tell right.So is there anysense in sending it in.it has iExtreme firmware, i did not do it so i am not sure what it looks like inside.the case is perfect though.

as long as it doesnt have the stupid x-clamp fix on it, send it in. how are they going to know its flashed if it RROD's?

I'd worry more about the warranty sticker than the flash. Tons of people get their box fix by MS and never have problems with their boxes being flashed.

well decided to take a closer look, i pulled the bottom mesh and top mesh off along with the faceplate.
im guessing since the microsoft sticker(on the front right under the rings of death)is in one piece and not scratched its all good...
secondly there is a foil sticker between the memory card slots that looks like it was almost peeled back and then put back where it belongs.. doesnt look bad at all. would you say its all godd to send in.
second of all will they be fixing this console or just replacing?
with the firmware be the same?

you will more than likely get the same console back, but with a different drive. so you will have to reflash it. but odds are it will be the new lite-on that you dont need the ck3/probe for.

easier than the benQ drive?
bought it this way.
have a labtop with no sata connects, can u recommend a good package for this ???

WTF????? works now well i see the dash, havent tried playing yet.
was trying to pul codes from the sync button and the eject butn method, and walla it works..why any one know?

just got luck is what im going chalk it up to. give it some time and the RROD will be back. either way i would send it into MS.

Agreed. once you get RRoD and it goes away, it is only a matter of time before it will be permanent. Definitely send it back to Microsoft. Yay, now I can post this:

Maybe i've made a gash of mine, but on my Lite-On Xbox, i've had to peel off the silver metal tape that sticks the drive to the console, and also the warranty sticker on the actual DVD drive which had to be removed to get to the key and use the probe.
I couldn't see any other way of getting round these?

silver metal tape can easily be pulled back. drive sticker i wouldnt worry about. i normally cut it with a utility knife so you cant tell, and i doubt they go through that much work testing/looking at them.

hi all,
just throwing my two penneth in..... i've had to repair a few rrod's that were sent in to m$ but had been flashed prior. They had been sent back with a very polite 'this unit has been tampered with' letter and thats that... no repair or nothing. I checked each unit to see if the seals showed any blatent signs of entry and tbh they were in very good knick.

took it apart, and looks like someone beat me to the punch, its missing xclamps and a very poor pasting job(looks like someone went to town with some jb weld)is the xclamp for xecuter worthy?? or should i just go get some washers?
