Hey guys, I hope I'm not posting an already asked question, but I tried the search and I couldn't find what I was looking for.
I have my wii soft modded and I'm using Waninkoko's USB Loader v1.1. I formatted my harddrive using the USB Loader and I want to be able to back up that harddrive in case it ever fails. I tried using WBFS and I had no luck getting it to read the drive. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my computer to recognize the drive so that I can back it up?
In WBFS 3.0 on your PC, connect the drive you use and 'load' this will read all your games, then connect your second WBFS drive and once the WBFS 3.0 has found it (bottom left, drive to drive) just use the clone button.
I have not tried this yet, but that is the way I have read to do it.
Hope it works for you.
p.s. both drives have to be WBFS formatted obviously.
I'll try it again when I get home. I couldn't get my laptop to recognize the drive in WBFS, but that was on Vista. I'll try it on an XP machine and see if it recognizes it.
Make sure the drive is primary and has a drive letter assigned to it. This is a common reason why USB Devices can be found with USB Loaders but not a PC.
I got it working. I had a Seagate Freeagent drive and, despite the warnings, I tried it with no luck so I switched to a different drive. It's a little bit of a back and forth process, but it's not too bad. Here are the steps I found to take.
-connect both harddrives
-load the drive that you will be copying to into the top window and format it
-unload that drive, then load that blank drive into the bottom window
-then load the drive that has the games into the top window
-click "clone this drive"
It takes a little bit of time, but it's so nice to have a backup of your drive as well as being able to easily manage your WBFS drives from a PC. Plus it uses the real size of the game instead of a full 4GB for each one!
