Error message screen on modded wii

OK.. here's the deal. My name is Andre. I bought my Wii about 4-5 months after its release date. It's fairly old now. As soon as i bought it I had someone( A china man) at my job put the wiikey in for me and it has worked fine. He gave a bunch of games and they have all work perfectly. This all happened when the wiikey first came out(mind you this was before Mario galaxy). I recently put Shaun White and it asked me to update my wii, which i did. Now I get an error 002 message saying that im unauthorized device. Now If I try to burn new games such as punch out and mini ninjas.. Do i have to update my Wii and if so will that damage my console. I'm a total noob, all i know is that have a modchip and that's it. What is homebrew? PLease some advise,Do i download PAL or NTSU? Did I cause damage to my wii.

Make sure you have the latest Wiikey firmware installed. You can find a Wiikey thread in the ultimate sticky thread.
