What images are recomended for a clone Dreambox 800?

I bought one last week without realising it was a clone and installed Gemini on it. I have since read that Gemini doesn't work on clones etc and may cause damage.

Can I upload new firmware to replace the Gemini image? I think some people use Nabilosat.

Generally clones can run anything up to bootloader 72. Newer Gamani images 4.2 and above (i think) will stop the box from working but not destroy it, also barry allen check for the latest bootloaders. You can put a Nabilo 11 for clones on your box.

Thanks mate. I presume Nabilo 11 has a bootloader lower than 72?

Also do you know if this version fixes the remote control problem?

Normal nabilo blackhole 11 comes with bootloader 73 not sure on what bootloader the clone safe uses. What issues have you with the remote.

The dreambox came with Enigma 2 and the remote worked fine. Since I installed Genini the remote only works sporadically within a few feet of the receiver.

How do I found out what bootloader no I can use?

The clones all come with different flash chips, you need to check with the supplier what flash sim it came with, modern ones have been shipped with 72, so you can load any images up to bootloader 72, I think some clones come shipped with gemani bl72, I think with the cloans you can change the sims to later cracked bootloaders by putting in new cards. I'm not sure though as I have an original. As for the remote have you tried changing the batteries.

Well you can just use the patched images from Dreambox Clones

I'm now using the latest Nabilosat on my clone with a bootloader 72 sim card. At a bargain price of £215 from them I'm glad I did.

I checked and I have a bootloader #69.

I installed Nabilo pure flash with Barry Allen. I then used ftp to transfer an nfi image to the media/usb/images file in Barry Allen.
But when I go into this file there is ni image listed.

Don't know what to do next. Might try and get a new sim card with a bottloader # of 73.

I'm a little confused with what your trying to do?? If you have checked with your supplier and they have stated you have a chip that supports upto second stage 69 then just load an image thats based around ss69 something like blackhole 7 (check first. You say you have loaded nabilo pure flash with barry allen, is the barry allen icon showing in the plugin menu its a picture of (flash). If so you have to send images to mbimages then use the flash wizard to extract nfi images. I think your routing is wrong.

If your supplier sent you a box with an image already on it it will work but if not or you dont like that image you could flash bootloader 72 r1 from here
to do this have you network cable attached & hold in the standby button on the box whilst powering on the box & keep the standby button pressed until the lcd shows you the ip address of the box, then in IE type that ip address into the url search bar, this will bring up the internal gui from the box, look at the bottom where it says flash update, click there & upload the new bootloader, you can then go here again & use the image of you want, I'm using PLi jade 3, very stable but you might need to restart the box more than once at first until it boots correctly.

Lenny if Sarsipius has a clone machine with a hacked 69 bootloader chip it will not support the 72 bootloader. Dream put flash on a chip that cannot be replicated. If sarsipius wants later images he needs a new hacked chip capable of loading 72 images. I'm suprised that is only a 69 chip as all the modern ones are coming in with 72.

Right, I downloaded a more recent version of DCC and the Barry Allen plug ins are finally showing here. I should now be able to install a newer image with a bootloader above #69 using external flash.

The other option is to flash a modern image, say with a bootloader #72 then flash again afterwards with a #69 nfi image, then update the drivers using tellnet. Apparently this works and has been tested on clones with a bootloader # 69 & 70 using Nabilo v11

Which dreambox fo you have? I don't know too much about Pli, I have been reading mostly about Nabilo and Gemini. Very easy to flash images actually just need to find the right one! I wanted to get this sorted tho as i've already paid for a 12 month subscription

Just flashed a patched Gemini image v 4.4 #69.

Remote works great again but still getting tuner failed. Think the only thing left is update the drivers etc. I just downloaded a pdf of how to do this. Fingers crossed...

I have a Dreambox 800HD - I've put a Pli image on it and CCam 2.1.1.

It powers up fine and I can use the remote to navigate through the menu's.

It seems to be set to DHCP - when I power it on and hold the power button it, an IP addy of 192.168.1.8 appears.

If I do a ping -t to this address, it pings continually and it is visible in the list of clients from the router.

Dcc v2.95 can find it in the search at this point.

I cannot connect via Dcc v2.95 no matter what option I try - I've tried router, with check etc but it continually returns the error:

'Dreambox login failed'

user: root
password: dreambox

If I powercycle the box, I can't ping, see it in the router, or connect.

Can anyone suggest how to proceed - be it a different image or whatever..

Thanks.

download the help file here, take note each time you re-boot the dreambox your router will/can assign a new IP address to it, I tried jade 2 & 3 but did'nt like them, epg was poor,.now using nabliosat blackhole here,...I take it your 800hd has bootloader 72? you can check this on the LCD as the box is booting up but it only lasts a sec or two so be quick.

I managed to connect in using DCC - from the remote, I went to Menu/Setup/system/Network and edited the existing IP to a .24 address on my subnet.

It has a bootloader of 72 and it's PLi Jade

I'll download that file and put that on - is it safe putting that on a clone?

The box seems to jam up frequently if I scroll quickly through the menus and I have to wait a minute or two or power cycle - has anyone encountered this?

Thanks for the help

I need to clarify a few things, when you say DCC you mean dreambox control center ? thats not a lot of use to you realy,.. the rapidshare link I posted has a patched nabilosat image for the clone 800hd with bootloader 72 so it's ok to use. see here for more images,..did you follow the instructions in the pdf file link I posted ?

I mean Dreambox control centre.

I downloaded the file and know I need to use Dreamup to apply - I'll do that this evening so.

I followed the help file instructions and they were very clear - I just have one last query - has any else experienced the remote control issue I'm having - where it freezes up if you navigate too fast and you have to wait a few minutes or power cycle?

thanks..

The method of flashing covered in the pdf file is much easier,..to get started hold in the standby button on the box whilst pluging in the power cable at the rear of the dreambox,..keep the button held in until you see the ip address on the lcd screen, the box in now ready to be flashed,..the 800 has a built in web interface & you just type the ip of the dreambox into the your web browser url box & up pops the interface on your PC screen,..then click "firmware upgrade" locate the image you want to flash on your PC & away you go,...dead simple & no need for dreamup or other software,..the remote issue can be improved by upgrading your bootloader to 72 r1 here ,..you can also use the web interface to flash the bootloader.

Lovely, I was browsing through the web interface last night - I'll use that so - should I do a backup before applying to boot loader update or the other flash image you posted?

Last question - does anyone know what size clips in mm I need to clip the S*y RG6 cable onto the wall from the LNB?
