Booting PSlax from External HDD or Thumb Drive?

I'm in the process of modding my 360 (Hitachi-LG) and I'm wanting to use the pSlax method to put my drive into "Mode B", well the problem is I only have 2 sata cables in my PC, 1 for the HDD and 1 for the CD/DVD Drive. Being in this particular predicament, I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out if I could put pSlax on a USB Drive or External HDD and boot from that.

why not just not use your cd drive and unplug it?

unetbootin will work to make usb boot drive.

http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

I use it to make all kinds of linux boot drives.

I can not say the program will work like it does from cd. I did not test flashing (no drive to test). I did just test booting with it and can say it will boot.
