Ive been reading around and it seems there are several brands and models that will work. Main two im seeing Pioneer DVR-115D and Samsung SH-D162D. Is there one specific that is the most widely used? Has the best success rate of ripping?

Thanks,

Drew

Drives that are able to be flashed with Kreon V1.0:

Samsung SH-D163A (SATA)
HP TS-H353A (SATA)
Samsung SH-D163B (SATA)
HP TS-H353B (SATA)
Samsung SH-D162C (IDE)
HP TS-H352C (IDE)
Samsung SH-D162D (IDE)
HP TS-H352D (IDE)

Or you can flash IX 1.6 0800 to your Lite-ON, BenQ, or Samsung to rip games.

Not sure on where you read about the 115D. I'm guessing they were referring to the wxripper method which I wouldn't do.

He may have heard about the drive for being a good burner. I use the Pioneer drive for burning 360 games, and it has worked for 3 years. But no that one won't work for ripping 360 games.

Okay so I have a Lite-on drive now, only after watching this video about turning off the drive some r707 something it was a bit to tech for me.
YouTube video

So if I bought something like this Samsung SH-D163B Kreon V1.0 that already has the correct firmware on it would it just be plug in and go? I could read Xbox games straight off with no flashing required? Or is there more to it than that...

Thanks,

drew

If you bought a drive that already has the Kreon firmware installed, then yes, you can basically just plug and go.
