Yes you can mod the system pretty much on any firmware. I don't know why you would want to though. The only reason I could think of is if you don't have WiFi to update to the latest firmware. Other then that there is no reason not to update to 4.1 firmware.

Do some research on the Wii Modscene and learn a little more before attempting this. I am not going to spoon feed you all this information. If you don't know what to do or are scared then learn a little more before attempting the guide.

I have a LEH250+ with SM 4.0E, but it does not work for me

I can not select IOS249 in cIOS38_rev14. The highest I can select is IOS61 then IOS254.
I tried to used ISO35 or IOS36 to do the installation (network), but it returns ret= -2011 (as expected I assume). IOS254 does not work at all.

I then tried to use DOP-IOS to may be correct the problem, be no IOS has been successfully patch.
The errors I got are : failed -1017, or -05

Should I upgrade to 4.1 and try it again ?

Thanks.

Are you sure you have the system softmoded? Sounds to me that you don't.

All the error messages your getting tend to come up on an unmodded system. As well if you can't find IOS249 in the list then it seems you don't have a custom IOS installed either.

I would recommend using my 4.1 Firmware Softmod Guide in my sig instead of this one.

if it's about HBC not showing any apps, even if there are some in the apps directory on the root, then I had the same problem at the beginning.
It has something to do about how the SD card is formatted. I had to use a virtual windows to use the SD formatter, because the linux command did not work for me (I'll have deeper investigation to find a working solution for linux).

I pointed you in the right direction. Do some research and learn what each application does and how to run it. If you took this advice then you would know you need the SD Card in the Wii system for HBC to list the apps you have on the SD card.

Stop waisting my time and others time with basic knowledge questions that you should already know.

You would know basic stuff if you took the time to do a little research and learn.

I spend time making guides for members, so the least they can do is do a little work before using them and learn basic stuff. If you don't like the way I answer questions in the guide then feel free to find another.

There is step by step info on the first page in the guide. It is not my fault that you want to argue rather then do research to get a base knowledge on how the applications used in the guide work.

The fact is you shouldn't have any issues if you just followed the guide from start to finish.

As for the problem your having (nothing showing up on HBC because you don't have the SD card in the Wii) is due to more stupidity then newbiness.

@cantonaaa: larrylje did say in a previous post, albeit to zeitgaist, to use the 4.1 softmod guide in his sig, i honestly don't think you can get more step-by-step than his guides in my humble opinion.

If it aint broke....mod it! ;)

You said in your previous post that you didn't have the SD card in the Wii. You need it inserted for the apps to show up in the HBC.

Do you have the apps folder and wad folder at the root of the SD card? If so and it still doesn't work then try using a different SD card.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Larry for the detail guide. I just upgraded my 3.3 to 4.1. Have been using backup launcher and now moved up to neo gamma.

Encounter an http error while patching ios33 and it dropped me back out to Homebrew screen. Just restarted again with ios33 with no other problem.

Don't really know all of what I did as I'm still new to the home brew and am reading up on wiibrew.org. If you know of any good site to ready up and understand all of this would be greatly appreciated.

Well I bought my Wii as 3.4U and i downgraded the ios and installed BHC using twilight long ago. I then installed ios 38 53 55 and cios38 rev13b. If I want to get to 4.1U, is it ok to reinstall all the ios's you listed even if I already have them installed?
Would i just download the UPDATE PACK, then follow step 1, then go to my wii settings and update to the latest version menu by there (legit nintendo method), then install all ios's you listed even if i have them already, then follow step 4? Please let me know.
Thanks
