Would i just download the UPDATE PACK, then follow step 1, then go to my wii settings and update to the latest version menu by there (legit nintendo method), then install all ios's you listed even if i have them already, then follow step 4? Please let me know.
Thanks
Follow the guide as is.

Hey Larry, I began the steps in this guide, forgetting I no longer have wifi. I got as far as the first step, ie. I installed the cios, then realised I needed wifi.
How can I revert to the way I was, with it working under firmware 4.0? Do I downgrade the cios?

You can have whatever cIOS version you want installed.

So no there is no reason to worry about installing a different cIOS.

Thanks Larry. If I want to use DOP IOS without wifi, is it possible to download the various IOSs and put them on the SD card for DOP IOS to use?

Never tried it.

Have a go if you want.

UPDATE: I did a little test for myself cause I was curious.

Yes you can download the IOS content using NUS. But the directory structure between NUS and DOP-IOS are different. So after downloading the IOS content you will need to restructure the directory.

Just make sure you download the version of IOS that DOP-IOS thinks is the latest. So start up DOP-IOS (DO NOT PATCH ANYTHING YET) and go through the IOS's that the guide says to patch and write down the IOS version that DOP-IOS says is the latest. After that use NUS to download those IOS versions (checking DOP-IOS will insure that you are actually downloading the IOS version that DOP-IOS thinks is latest version). So make sure the version you download using NUS matches the version that DOP-IOS says is the latest version.

Also make sure you DO NOT have the PACK->WAD box ticked in NUS. You need the content that is packed in the wad not the wad file itself.

Lets use IOS9 as an exmnaple...

DOP-IOS says that v521 is the latest version for IOS9. So use NUS to download IOS9 v521.

When you use NUS to download the v521 of IOS9 you get a directory of..

0000000100000009v521>Content

In order for DOP-IOS to find this content the directory needs to be restructured. The directory will go at the root of the SD card and have the below directory structure...

00000001>00000009>v521>Content

To get this directory structure you will need to first create a new folder at the root of the SD Card and name it 00000001. Inside that folder you will create a new folder named 00000009. Inside that folder you will create a new folder named v521. Inside that folder you will copy/drag the content that is inside the NUS 0000000100000009v521>Content directory to this folder.

Now lets use IOS12 as an example...

DOP-IOS says that v12 is the latest version of IOS12. So use NUS to download IOS12 v12.

When you use NUS to download the v12 of IOS12 you get a directory of..

000000010000000Cv12>Content

In order for DOP-IOS to find this content the directory needs to be restructured. The directory will go at the root of the SD card and have the below directory structure...

00000001>0000000C>v12>Content

To get this directory structure you will need to first start in side of the 00000001 folder since you have already created this folder directory. Inside that folder you will create a new folder named 0000000C. Inside that folder you will create a new folder named v12. Inside that folder you will copy/drag the content that is inside the NUS 000000010000000Cv12>Content directory to this folder.

Hopefully by this time you have noticed how we are getting the names of the new folder structure directory. Using the NUS directory name we are splitting it up...

00000001/00000009/v521
00000001/0000000C/v12

Do this for the rest of the IOS that I have listed to be patched.

Once your done place the SD card into the Wii then start DOP-IOS and patch all the listed IOS without using the WiFi connection.

MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT GET ANY CONTENT MIXED UP! MAKE SURE THEY ALL GO TO THE PROPER DIRECTORY!

Hey Larry,
Excellent guide...a couple questions though.
When I tried updating from 3.2U to 4.1U it took about 5 minutes and came back with an error saying it couldn't complete the upgrade and to go to the Wii website for details. However, when I checked my latest firmware it said I was now at 4.1U? I went to try the update again just to make sure and it gave me a warning about deleting my soft mods and all so I backed out. I completed the rest of the guide and everything seems fine although I haven't tried any of my games yet. Any ideas if during the update it installed 4.1 fine but perhaps errored out before installing 4.2 (which I didn't know about)?
Is there anything I shouldn't access with a softmod? I want to purchase songs for RB2 so can I still do this? Also should I be playing the RB2 (retail copy) the system menu or the backup launcher?

Thanks,

Kaz

I am new to wii.
I have two questions:

1) How to check the firmware version?
2) How do I know if I have a LU64, LEH250 OR LAH113?

Now I have installed the HBC followed this (only the HBC, neight the DXDX nor the BootMii), and I have installed the Backup Channel followed this.

I found that the Wii Sports Resort cannot be loaded, so I search the net and downloaded the neoGamma.rar and cIOS38_rev14-Installer.zip. Since the readme says I need the IOS38-64-v3610.wad, so I serch the net and downloaded it.

I put the cIOS38_rev14-Installer.dol (after unzip the installer.zip) into a folder inside the apps folder of the SD card and start the HBC, but I cannot find it, so I rename it to boot.dol and start HBC again. This time, I can install the cIOS38_rev14. I also put the unzipped neoGamma.rar inside the apps folder. Since the neoGamma is not a .wad (a boot.dol, in fact), I cannot install it. I can only select to run it in the HBC.

After I ran the neoGamma, and it loaded the Resort, but the Wii restarted itself before any game display. Therefore I search the net again and found this forum. Now, I would like any suggestions to fix the problem.

Thanks!
If you don't know how to find out what firmware your on or what serial # you have then you have no business modding your Wii. Do some research before asking all these questions that could be answered if you just took the time to look.
