Not sure what all it does. Guess that it fixes Drake's and the other three games from freezing.

Good to hear, I've been getting a lot more media server errors since the 3.00 update so hopefully this fixes it.

If you want the Japanese 3.01 but don?t know how to read Japanese; go to playstation.com and pick Japan, open another session and pick America. Mirror the Japanese steps with the American steps to get to the Firmware update. Download the update to a flash drive and install it on your PS3.

sometimes i get 0 users online in the corner but on the actual list there will be 1 user clearly online in 3.0 Havent checked with 3.01 but anybody else have that happen?

Will cause problems like the PS3 not booting up or ntsc-j discs not playing.
And if there are no problems, will O for select change to X

It seams that the proper way to update a Japanese PS3 is to do it with Japanese firmware. With your PS3 is connected to the Net, just let it update as it pleases through the PS3 update system. I dont know but would think it would select the proper update area.

You can update, it's all the same. It's been posted many times on the playstion forum. No i have not done it myself and i have no reason to. :)
