Hi all,

I have been reading around on here , but not really found the answer I need. What I want it to know which drive I need to purchase to make a backup of my 360 games? I have been told to find a Samsung with Kreon Firmware, but I find a few different one's so I don't want to get the wrong thing. Also once I have done that what software do I need to run the process? I have made successful backups from downloads before, so that part is fine. Do I need to do some flashing or something to the drive etc? Not that I know how to do that anyway! :D

Any help would be really appreciated!

Ciao 4 now!

This is the list of PC drives that can be flashed with Kreon V1.0:

Samsung SH-D163A (SATA)
HP TS-H353A (SATA)
Samsung SH-D163B (SATA)
HP TS-H353B (SATA)
Samsung SH-D162C (IDE)
HP TS-H352C (IDE)
Samsung SH-D162D (IDE)
HP TS-H352D (IDE)

Or you can flash your Lite-ON, Samsung, or BenQ with IX 1.6 0800 firmware to make backup copies.

You can use XBOX Backup Creator v2.9 to rip and burn. ImgBurn is also a good program to burn. Schtrom 4.0 can rip games too.

Thanks for the reply. So I can't just buy one of those Samsung drives for my PC and it's ready to go? I have to then flash it? How do I go about flashing a drive?

What are the differences between those drives?

I use ImgBurn to burn games at the minute and it works great! What does flashing a drive do? Is it just a program that runs through it or something? Also does the Xbox Backup Creator do everything ready to just burn it or do I need to do something else with the files afterwards.

Sorry for all the questions, but once I know I'm sorted! :D

You can buy a drive pre-flashed. Although they are normally higher if they are already pre-flashed with Kreon. Only differences in them really are SATA and IDE.

So I'm guessing that if it doesn't say it's got Kreon Firmware in the product desription then it hasn't got it.

How do I know if I have SATA or IDE. I think I have SATA though. :)

I would like to know how to flash a drive though as it will then give me a little advantage when I want to try flashing a 360 myself.

Open your PC and look to find out whether you have SATA or IDE. The Kreon firmware will come with a program to flash the drive or you boot DosFlash and flash the firmware that way.

How can I tell the difference between a SATA and IDE? What do I look for? Also what do you mean by "the Kreon firmware will go with a program"? What program? And what is DosFlash? Sorry. :(

dude, you are seriously going to screw yourself. First off, it's pretty obvious you haven't tried searching for anything. Do your research first man, then ask educated questions.

But more importantly, if you do not know the difference between SATA and IDE, I'm a little nervous for you. While modding/flashing/backing up games does not by any means require extensive technical knowledge, you do need to learn your basics. If you don't know the difference between SATA and IDE, I would be very nervous flashing a drive.

Like I said, you need to do research. Hopefully upon doing that, you will have learned your basics (atleast what you need to know), and then can either ask better questions, or you might not even have any.

All these questions make you a candidate for a flashed drive. You must be warned that these drive are out dated on you won't find them locally or major websites......bestbuy, tigerdirect, newegg and so on. You would have to do eBay or google for someone who is still selling then at an exorbitant price to pay for the addition on their home. You can find out if you pc has Sara by going to it's manufacturer's website and looking up ur model and then checking the specs. Then check the hard drive. If it says SATA then bingo. If I were u I would use my hard drive from the 360 provided it's not a Hitachi. Tho save time and money.

Thanks for all your help guys. I think I will go for a pre-flashed drive. I am finding it difficult to find one online in the UK though. Does anybody has a reliable source for these?

Also, I remeber when looking inside the PC before that it was IDE as it had the big cables.

Thanks.

If your not adverse to ordering from nz then this fella has them, you also by rights shouldn't need to pay gst i think since it's being sent overseas ?just for the record i bought mine from him 2 years ago as well as other bits n bobs as well as from Modz, also since your in UK that'd make it about $25 pound i think tho it is an IDE
