Methinks you mean "paint job," not "case design." Is it too soon to be using the "lipstick on a pig" analogy again? Yeah, it looks like a decent paint job for a cheaply-constructed device.

Hehe great sarcasm.
To me it looks like some kid doodled with some cardboard templates randomly placed on the case. In fact in the above picture angle the side looks as if a sticker was put on and then ripped off leaving a scruffy mark.
I only have half a dozen games so my 120GB drives are somewhat sparse, but it's good to see MS are (slowly) providing bigger hard drives. Maybe someone should whisper in MS'es ear that 120/250GB drives are from Victorian times though.
Main PC ~ Intel C2Q Q6600 (G0 Stepping)/Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3/2GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500/Zalman CNPS9700/Antec 900/Corsair HX 620W
Network ~ DD-WRT ~ 2node WDS-WPA2/AES ~ Buffalo WHR-G54S. 3node WPA2/AES ~ WRT54GS v6 (inc. WEP BSSID), WRT54G v2, WRT54G2 v1. *** Forum Rules ***

Just pluck your old HDD off and buy an arcade. You save $200.

Whisper? at there age you become hard of hearing, So speak up.
There Gears of War limited edition case is still the best, besides anything beats White.
i wonder if 10 years from now my console will gain that Snes classic news paper look.

Game-based case designs always look like crap.
Example, the Modern Warfare 2 controllers.
Or the God of War PSP.
They might as well just had made the Xbox metallic green or black. That would be awesome.

Newest ones look bad... Some older consoles like the Dreamcast looked pretty nice... And the MGS Edition PSP, that was really nice :)

Err, i don't think the God of War PSP looks like crap (of course i say that, because i own one :P). That's only lusty red PSP available, but yeah, i don't like the etched Kratos on the back of the PSP. Well, they have to put something on the console to associate it with the game. The ones without artworks (or doodles) are:
Gunmetal PS3
Halo Xbox 360
Resident Evil Xbox 360
This MW2 Xbox don't look that cool, maybe without the doodles :) As to the case design, err, it's the same one as before. The Xbox 360 looks exactly same as that of the launch date (well, at least not fatter, lol). Sony likes to lose weights, lol. Personally, i think the 360 should shred few pounds here and there too, not only slicker, but sexier too, no? But you know the mentality of the Americans, round is a shape too.

Wow, they failed at making that case. I could of done a way better job (stay tuned, I'll see if I can make a design if I get time).
Edit:

I did this in literally 5 minutes... and I didn't have a design team or multi-million dollar research group. If I had enough time I would have continued the picture the entire way around the xbox, but that'll have to do.
Something like my sketch above would have been awesome, instead they made something that looks like it was made by a 2 year old with a crayon and some tape.

The 5 minutes design is much cooler than the ugly doodle.
