Hi, I just bought a 2nd hand hard-modded Wii. How do I upgrade its existing firmware 3.2u to the latest 4.1? Someone told me that if I upgrade using the firmware upgrade in the game disc, it will brick my Wii. Is this true?

If the disc is from the same region as your console then you're fine.

Thanks for the advice. The game disc is not the same region as my console. Any other way to upgrade my firmware?

Just go into settings and upgrade via the Nintendo online upgrade like you normally would.
