What do I need to flash the Lite-On 7XXXX.
Can I use the CK3 Probe and my xbox to power the drive?

You'll need the CK3 Probe + the DVD connectivity kit.

Yes, that will work. Just be careful attaching the alligator clip as you are messing with power.
One thing nice about the Probe though is you will get a green light when you have made a good connection in the R707. The link you provided, that kit and probe does not have that feature.

Btw, why does it have 2 different prices? HERE and HERE. They're both from the same seller/company and the same products.

I still haven't checked if it is really the 7XXX firmware, but my Arcade has a manuf. date of 2009-25-04, so it's probably the 7XXX

Yeah, it is more than likely it will be the 74850C.

because people that go to ebay are looking for it cheaper than on websites, and people that go to websites usually dont care if they spend more money than what it is on ebay since they dont have deal with ebay itself.

But with that kit, if it doesnt connect properly with the R707, it just won't read the fw, or will it brick the drive somehow?

it just wont read the FW. it will say serial data bad. only way you will mess it up is if you put it in the wrong hole or manage to short it out somehow.

Thanks for the quick answer. I'm new to this Lite-On flashing, I only did Samsung/Hitachi/BenQ. I'll buy that kit, which will cost me 23Euros.
