Hello, I have been away for some time due to circumstances out of my control but am now back and looking for advice.

is the x-clamp still the best way to fix 3 red rings? (last x clamp i done was about 1 1/2 years ago :-/)

I do always search but thought I didnt want to waste time spending hours searching for stuff that is out of date.

any help of hints of what or where to search is appreciated.

xX Shinnster Xx

ALSO, DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES ON LIVE REGARDING MODDING CONSOLES, OR HOW I PLAYED A CERTAIN GAME EARLY. I WILL NOT RESPOND. I WILL INSTEAD DELETE YOUR MESSAGE, AND BLOCK ALL COMMUNICATION FROM YOU. JUST SEND ME A PM ON HERE.

The x-clamp replacement is still best (other than sending it in) But there's a reflow method for xboxs that are too bad and the x-clamp replacement won't fix it by itself.

Consoles:

XBOX360 Falcon console with Lite-On 74850C

PS3 80gb phat model with 120gb hdd

PS3 60gb model

PS3 modded on 3.55

People use the heatgun method for xboxs that are too stubborn to work (If x-clamp replacement and overheating still doesn't work) The way they do it should show up on a google search, they usually use a heatgun and then x-clamp replacement.

Heat gunning should really only be used if nothing else will work.

Heat gun is not the same as reflow, reflow is the best option it basically resolders the mobo replacing the crap that they put on there. you have to have a reflow table which are very expensive, but many members on this board will reflow for a price.

360 Benq ixtreme 1.6, Talismoon Whispermax (blue), custom window, black metallic paint, western digital 120gb hard drive
Wii (launch console) 3.3 Twilight Hack wiigator .3g

I know but people use the heatgun as a cheap way to fix them but reflow is much better, harder, more expensive, It has a way higher chance of working and making it work for much longer, I personally wouldn't use the heat gun unless nothing at all would work that I tried (never heat gunned an xbox).

since are going to need to reflash anyway if you want to play the latest game, then it dosn't matter. Buy a warranty sticker off of ebay for 20$ slap it on and send it in. they dont check your fw. although you will most likely get a brand new drive back that will need to be re-flashed.
