Ok before I start, yes I know I should update my firmware to 1.6 but I have not got round to it yet so please just humour me for now and read on.

I am currently on fw 1.4 hence I use ppfomatic to patch all my wave 3 iso's so I can play them. This has worked fine for the past 6 months but recently, newer wave 3 games seem to be less forgiving in the patch/burn process.

I have had no joy in playing both dirt 2 or need for speed shift, and it took me 3 downloads and 5 discs to finally get beatles rock band to finally work

my question is is anyone aware of these issues, and if these new wave 3 games are almost on a new wave, like wave 3.1, hence the problems I am having?.

I know the solution to my problem really lies in updating fw, but until then has anyone else suffered the same issues and could offer any advice?

Need for speed shit is the one I want to play, it gets recognised, it loads, but then hangs loading the test lap, this is after three burns on 3 different dvds, downloaded the iso twice from 2 different sources. I have also tried to install the game to the hard drive but it crashes out at 49% saying "cannot read disc"

any help would be appreciated!!

Agree, this does sound like a media issue. If you are using Vertabims, then upgrade to 1.6 (or 1.51). Not many peeps on here reommend patching the game, it will get you banned.

I have the same issue, tired NFS and NBA2K10. No luck and using the exact same media that all my other patched games were using. Let me know if you find a solution.

not sure if your talking to me but I don'e have the sata connection to update my xbox so I was stuck using the patcher to make the games play on 1.4, something has happened to the games in the last few weeks though.

for some reason patching brutal legend and borderlands worked fine but still couldn't get NBA or need for speed to work. I know I prefer the first two games anyway
