quick question: havent updated my Wii Key since Mario Kart...

what all do i have to do to get this back up and running? there several games i would like to try but have yet to try just becuase i dont know if

1. The wii keys still work( have one of the orginal ones from when first came out)

2. what hoops i need to go thorugh as far as updates to get this wroking again.

3. if i need a new chip/wii or is there a new better way to mod them now?


any help would be great thx.

It would be nice if you would tell us what your WiiKey software version is. That would help us answer your question.

"....back up and running?" Are you saying that it worked at one time and now it's stopped working?

Updating the Wii doesn't do anything to the Wiikey.

I am running Wiikey (original) at 1.9s and my Wii at 4.0u and everything (including mario kart) runs fine.

sorry i understand how that was confusing. lol i haven't touched my Wii since Mario Kart came out. so as far as version on wiikey, to the best to my knowledge would be what ever was need to play mario kart.

the wii its self still works what i meant up and going was what i need to do to play these newer games. figured my chip would be out dated and just wanted to know if i should try updating my Wiikey or if there is better ways to do it that and i don't even need to do that way any more.

just completely out of the loop ever since i got my 360 year ago and havent touched it since. just wanted to be pointed in right direction as to where i need to go

have one original models of wiis
have one original wiikeys
not sure what version want to say 1.9 but im just pulling that out of the air.
think roommate of mine updated the wii its self to what ever update it was for punch out but much as i know.


if thats not enough info to know what i have to do to get my wii to play backups again then fine to. just asking.

If you can't play a backup of Super Mario Galaxy you are below 1.9g

If you can play a backup of Super Mario Galaxy but NOT Super Smash Bros. Brawl, you are most likely at 1.9g

If you can play a backup of SSBB you are at 1.9s

Consider softmodding as well. An excellent and definitive guide published by Larryjle is on this site. Look for any post by Larryjle and look in the signature.

You can have both softmod and hardmod.

I would first start off by looking at the Ultimate Sticky thread which contains a Wiikey thread with all information and files needed to update your Wiikey to 1.9s.

You can follow the 4.1 FIRMWARE SOFTMOD GUIDE in my sig.

All of this could be found out without posting a new thread like this if you just did a little research before posting.
