A few months ago I replaced the stock dvd drive case with the xcm window case. Every so often when I turn on my xbox the disk just doesn't spin. In order to fix this, I have to open my xbox and unscrew the drive, open it, close it, screw it back together and it works again. wtf. I've put back on my orginal case a coulple weeks ago and it still has this issue of not spinning disks. Now its happening like every 3 days and its pissing me off.
Is there any solution to this or can I just by a different drive?

So when it doesn't spin does it make a buzzing noise?
It could be a few different things like a loose magnet, motor spindle needs lubrication, or simply the magnet just not catching properly or sticking to the case.
Since it only happened with the new case I think it must be the aligning of the magnet, try to make sure no parts of the drive are rubbing anything, that your spindle is easy to spin by hand (not stiff) and that the magnet isn't ruubing off the case.

I just now noticed this, the last two times when I turn the xbox on and it didn't spin I took a wire and turned the spindle a little bit and discs spin afterwards, what does that mean misalignment of the magnet? I don't know where this magnet it.
