Hi, I wanted to flash my Xbox and after going through the tutorial for flashing the Xbox360 I decidede to flash my Xbox.
When I had opened up my Xbox 360 I noticed that it was a Lite-on Philips Corporation drive.
I then searched this forum(and Google), finding many posts saying that the Lite-On drive could not be flashed. All though the Xbox360Mods supposily claims it can be flashed with the newest 1.6 iXtreme FW.
So I thought that since someone was saying the Lite-On drive could not be flashed and someone was very unclear about I thought that I could just buy a new Drive for my xbox that is very easy to flash.
I then searched this forum(and google) to find out which of the Xbox 360 Drives was the easiest to flash.
It was BenQ versus Samsung. I can't really decide which drive is the best/easiest to flash so it would be helpful if someone could point out which one is the best and most stable for flashing.

And so for the next step. I know that you have to spoof/find out my current key inside my Lite-On Drive.
So, is it easy/possible to spoof/read the key from a Lite-On Drive?
Do I need a connectivity kit for doing this? Will the connectivity kit do my job much easier. And when I have gotten the key from the Lite-On drive, is it fairly strait forward to put the key into the new drive?(which ever drive that you guys think is best).

So I hope someone can come with some good answers and I hope someone takes the time to read all this.

Thanks in advance for replies.

Lite-ONs drives are very easy to flash so you won't need to purchase a BenQ or Samsung. First you need to find out what firmware revision your Lite-ON is. Open up the console and look at the top of the Lite-ON drive. On the sticker in the lower left hand corner It will say:

HW ver:
FW ver:

Give me that info and I can give you specific details on how to go about obtaining the key and flashing your Lite-ON. :)

Thank you very much for your reply. If the Lite-On drive is flashable, that is great. I am not home for the moment but will be at tuesday so I will send you a PM (if that is ok?). But is any sorts of hardware/tools I would need to do it? What I am thinking is that if I do need some other tools I can order them now?

A PM is fine. But as for the hardware, that is very dependent upon which firmware revision you have. If you have the 74850C, it requires the Probe. If you have the 83850C, it does not require the Probe. Can you tell me when you purchased the XBOX 360?

It was purchased in January 2009, right after chirstmas. It is the Pro version with 60GB and it came with LEGO:Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda (I am not sure if this is relevant).

K, well I am pretty positive you have a 74850C Lite-ON because the 83850C Lite-ONs just started showing up in May/June 2009.

Here is the Probe: CK3 Probe

It will need to be used in conjunction with the CK3 DVD Connectivity kit: PRO Version or Lite Version

If you have a serial (DB-9) connection, you can save some money by going with the Lite version.

There is also the Xtractor PRO with spear available at other places.

Edit - Xtractor PRO and Spear

Ok, so I checked my DVD Drive and I have the 74850C.
I have also bought my self an CK3 Pro + CK3 Probe.
I downloaded jungleflasher and followed the tutorial on the Team Xecuter.

I have bumped into one problem though.
I managed to get the key from the drive using the Probe. And it is a valid key cause it has lots of different numbers and letters and doesn't consist of just CC's or 00's or anything like that.

When I got the key with jungleflasher, it ask's me it I want to save the: Key.bin, Inquiry.bin and Identify.bin. Also it saves a: Dummy.bin file with the other bin files.
Then I come to a step in the tutorial where it says that I shall press the button: "Erase". But when I press the button there comes a pop-up message which says: "Invalid Device..something...".
In the box below it says:"Getting Status from port 0xB800
Invalid Status 0x50"

And I can keep pressing Erase with the same result.

Do you have any suggestions to why I am getting this error?

I am currently running Windows Server 2008. I have installed all the PortIO drivers and the CK3 USB drivers.

Thank you for reply.

Ok, sorry for the late answer.
Here is the screenshot of my error message.

When I first got this error message I had Windows Server 2008 installed on the machine. I then installed Windows Xp on it and I get the same error message.

In the picture I have pressed erase a few times. But to no luck.

Ohhh, I see what you are doing. You need to be clicking Lite-ON Erase. Not the regular erase button. Once you click Lite-ON erase, it will pop a box about have a good DVDkey, click OK. The second box talks about returning a valid status, Click OK. Dots will start to go across the bottom of the log box and shut the drive off for 1 sec and then turn back on (on/off switch on CK3). You should get status 0x72 and a good flash chip, Winbond/NEX or MXIC.

Thank you for the help with the erasing thing.
But now it comes the same message when i press write?
I have spoofed the target and saved a file called: "Lite_CFW.bin" and then the tutorial is telling me to hit "write" but the the same error comes up:

Maybe try a different SATA port. Note, the drive now has no firmware on it so it won't eject anymore. It also won't be detected by JF anymore until you write firmware to it. Hook the drive up to a different SATA port and change the I/O port selection in the MTKFlash tab. Re-send the Lite-ON erase and power cycle when prompted.

Ok, I am as new as it gets to this buisiness and I figured that I would ask here istead of wasting time with a new thread. I had two Xbox360's one with a benq and one with a lite on FW Ver: 74850C. Well my benq xbox which I had flashed sucessfully with jungleflasher crapped out completely today had fixed the RROD then it was the E 74 error fixed it now the E74 error is back and everytime i fix it now it only works for about 5 min before it goes back out again and now im tired of messing with it. So my actual question is this: Can I flash the lite on drive now without swapping and spoofing the benq drive?? I have read a lot of older threads that say you can but what you said above made it sound like i could. Im not asking for a complete walkthrough i just want to know if i can flash the lite on drive now or do i have to spoof the benq into a lite on. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Im as new as it gets to all this, so please bear with me.

You would need to dump the DVDkey of the Lite-ON with a probe/spear. Once you have obtained the DVDkey, you can flash the Lite-ON.
