okay, for all intents and porposes i'm a complete idiot when it comes to modding an xbox. i've never done it before, but i was considering it, my only concern is getting banned from xbox live. i don't use it to play games, but it does stream my netflix to the tv. if i pull the ethernet cable out of the back of my xbox and play a burnt game on my system, then when i'm done plug the cable back in to watch movies or play an original game can i get banned? do they have anyway of knowing? i'd appriciate any advice, thanks

1.take 10 percent of all the money you save from playing burnt games, put it in a jar.
2. when you do get banned, take said money from 1. and go and buy a arcade version.
3.you will never know when you will get banned.stealh check your games, make sure your firmware is up to date and enjoy what you have.feedom from going out and buying a game you think you like, going home finding out it totally sucks.taking it back to gamestop and only getting half of what you payed for that game that should have never been released.

yes information of what you do offline "can" be stored on the xbox and sent through to microsoft when you reconnect back to xbox live. Doesn't mean it will though. So long as you always ensure your disc is stealthed you should be fine, and if you want to play safe then unplug the ehternet while you play.

I don't know why people are afraid they're going to get banned it's either risk it or don't we can't tell if you will, me and 5 friends always play our backups online (actually play on xbox live) and nothing happened to us after nearly a year.

I think everyone plays online. It doesn't matter if you do it offline. Right now, everything is live safe.

hi guys, i'm new here but i could do with some advice on this subject. say i have a game that's not yet been released and want to play it, would there be any trace if i unplug my internet connect to the xbox and remove the hdd? if i were to just remove the internet connection then wouldn't my acheivements still save to the hdd and show when i did eventually go online after the games release?
is the hdd the only place the xbox stores game information? if so then this would seem the perfect way to play your games early...

any input welcome

From all the research i have done on this topic and the millions of questions like this one.. there is basically no way not to get banned..eventually, some way longer than others, you will get banned..best thing to do is save the money that you are saving and if it does happen buy a new box.. comes out cheaper in the end..just a thought

Live is never completely safe. We still don't know exactly how microsoft bans, so you don't know if they detect something when there isn't a wave, and then flag you for the next ban wave.
