the box distribution have the starview 5 usb for sale apparently!!??
anyone else heard of this?
the thing is....i cant get ahold of wizardsatellite anymore(main distributors of starviews)...so whats happening?

somebody's tellng porky's! its probably just starview 4. nag 3 hasnt been cracked so it wont support it in ireland

The reason you cannot get them, is because their site and many others suppliers, have been hit by a DDOS attack, which renders theirs site inoperable.
Im sure they will all be back up and running next week you can always email them im sure.

dont tell me there is another box coming out when i bought the starview 4 was told i could get it updated when new firm wear was out Iam begining to think these boxes are a money racket the place where i got my boxes from are still on site i emailed them they said they would email me back when they heard anything so where is the starview 5

I haven't seen a picture yet but guessing its going to be the same as starview 4 with slightly different logo on front and a new chip inside. Like when the starview 3 superceeded starview 2. Apparently the release of this box is to combat the release of so many cloned starview 4s. To be Honest I would not buy one untill a few months down the line when they have been used for a while and any issues ironed out as there were lots of problems when the starview 4s were first released.

I waited till a few months down the line when starview 4 came out when i did get it in july for myself and friends we only got a few weeks out of them so i dont know why cant they just get new firmware on them i thought that was the meaning of it

yes new starview 5 usb somebody has been selling before the release date which is monday lol ,and guess what no firmware even better lol,so box and firmware due tomorrow for release and as always new box new firmware
as you always like to do things wrong=another brick in the wall.
as said not for irl as it does not have the n3 fix.

with n3 in irl there is no fix,you will still get the same as a sv4 usb or digivox xl usb on n2 on n*l and with more to go your choice.

tbh whats the point of starview 5? if what you have got is working why swap? and lets be honest its only a matter of a short space of time before england go n3 and they wont work anyway.

ok....just had a chat with the wizards....new starview 5 usb2 is basically the same box as the sv4,but with the exception of a new super chip to prevent any clones from following suit,like they did with the sv4....as for the firmware,from what i can gather...itsthe same....but we'll know in a few days if thats not the case....same look,same functions,slightly faster with none of that v1.10 epg headache..

Need help lads please,to fix 8882 i have done all of this, Fix For Error 8882
Use loader GTROM-V25 loader
1. Connect RS232 Null Modem cable between PC & Max 232 Adaptor
2. Open the lid of your sv4 and look directly behind the USB you will see a 4 Pin connector
Looking at this from front view pin 1 = vcc+ Pin2 =TX Pin 3 = RX Pin 4= Ground
3. Using your max232 Adaptor connect the Wires to corosponding pins Vcc to vcc Tx to Tx Rx to Rx Ground To Ground
4. Select Serial port COM 1 Etc Baud Rate Fixed As 115200.
5. Browse the BIN file to download and select File Type
6. Click "DOWNLOAD" first and turn the receiver power OFF/ON to download
7. After download completed ,wait another 30 seconds more until rebooting finished.
I hope this will get you all out of this misery of error8882 Attached is the loader and bin file

8. if Error Appears check the reason an try againor follow the reason displayed.
But it doesnt seem to work,i dont know how to get the GTROM-V25 LOADER ,and i have followed the instructions but when am trying to download v1.12.bin to the sv4 it appears on the pc as downloaded but the sv4 still stays the same ,with 8882 on it,can anyone help and tell me what am doing wrong,thanks

Did the wizards say whether there'd ever be another firmware update for the SV4, in particular to fix the crap epg?
Or can we forget it now there's another box.
(I assume that when they say the firwares are the same we can't load the SV5 firmware onto the SV4?)

It might be a good idea to take a look at your post. It's impossible to make any sense of it.
Think about what your problem is and what your question is. Then start a new thread with a title informing people what your problem is.
If people can make out what help you're asking for I dare say it will be forthcoming.

With the launch of IPTV will that make the starview boxes redundant? will Vir*n have to supply customers with new receivers if so surely that will cost a fortune. What are the benefits of IPTV compared to changing to Nagra 3 like in Ireland. Sorry for so many questions all in one go :-)

different box yes, now, UK law is different to Ire when it comes to Cable TV etc, so could be a duel box, cable and internet etc, not sure yet how it will be worked at present. not sure on the logistics of it, but if sly put pressure on them with regard to their chans, they may well pull it from the cable platform, they put pressure on UPC to sort their encryption (so I read anyways)
IPTV will bring a broader range of services than cable can at present, chans etc.
Cable and Wireless is onboard and so is virmin,

arite mate im in the uk and have a starview 4 usb works a treat,my girlfriends uncle was lukn one aswell but i dont really want to get him one if this iptv thing is gona be cumin in.is this the same as nagra 3 more are less ??? and will the box be useless when it comes in?? dont really see the point of him getting one if hes only gona get a few months out of it.
