I have the old Fat 1001 with 5.5 on it. Do i need to have a pandora battery to mod it, or can i just downgrade the firmware and play ISO games on it?

You need Pandora. Cheapest way to get one I know should be www.dealextreme.com

PSVita: hardly ever play it

You unortunatley DO need a pandora as you are on higher firmware than 5.03.

Buy a pandora and follow the internet guides
