Computer freezes everytime I connect DVD drive

Hey everyone. I have a little problem. I have finally gotten to get DosFlash 32 and Jungle Flasher both working recognizing my SATA card, but whenever I plug the actual DVD drive into my SATA card my computer freezes. Is this a known problem and does anyone know how to fix this? BTW I am using windows XP

yeah happens to me quite often, turn pc off, plug drive in and start it, when your finished doing your flash, power off pc before disconnecting drive or it will freeze again.

Connect the drive with the PC off. Make sure you removed the correct VIA driver.

I tried plugging it in before starting the computer up and windows xp wouldn't even load up. Also, how do I make sure the correct drivers are installed on xp?

I had this issue as well and it was because the VIA driver was installed. Uninstall this so that when you go into device manager, the via icon has a yellow exclamation mark next to it. Then try it again.
