I keep reading about the SAMSUNG SH-D162D with Kreon V1.0 will read the games so you can rip the games to the computer but can't I just get a xbox 360 drive and do the same thing? I assume thats how some people do it or do I still need to flash a reg 360 drive to rip it as well? I just wanted to be fully sure. So sorry if this as already been answered. I did do a search and assumed I could just get a reg 360 drive but just wanted to ask.

You can use a 360 drive flashed with iXtreme 1.6 and rip the games using that. A lot of people just buy a separate drive so that they don't have to open up the 360 every time.

Cool, thanks I just wanted to make sure. I understand why people buy the Samsung but it will be near 60 bucks if I wanna get it. I'm hoping to only spend 20-25 bucks on a 360 drive.

You can go that way but you are going to need to spend your saved money (from not just getting a kreon drive) on a connector kit. You could mod a power cable for the drive but takes a bit of doing. As the 360s drive needs 12 volt, 5 volt, and 3.3 volt to the odd connector.

Oh..now I understand. Is there a reliable site that sells the Kreon drive? I could only find one of them and they don't seem very good site. Also one LAST question...with the samsung drive with Kreon firmware will the drive beable to load the newest games like Alan Wake and everything that has YET to be released. Thanks so much.

Yes. And I got mine for $33 shipped and then just flashed it with Kreon firmware myself. Works perfectly.
