unable to get into settings menu on hacked wii

hi ive got a wii that has had a wiikey installed unsure on version or which update as did not do it or know anything about them. It has also been softmodded by me as it was not playing some games.
it has then had a update of a disc which halfway through the owner puled the power as he did not know if he should have done it.
Now to the problom when you try and acess the settings menu it comes up with an oprea error so you can not update or change any of the internet setings ect you an acess the gamesaves and channel info it gets that far.
The wii does seem to play and work ok apart from that i have updated upto neogammer 13 ad can get onto homebrew channel.

1 does any 1 know what has happened to it?
2 can it be fixed ?
3 if yes to above how ?

you have a semi bricked Wii, this is caused by updating to a system menu of the incorrect region for the system. The good news is that all you need to do is run any region changer from the homebrew channel and change the Wii's region to that of the system menu that had been installed. Alternatively you can download the original system menu for your region through the NUS downloader and install the packed wad through wad manager. The first one is the quickest and easiest ;)

thanks for quick replay but not sure f i can do it though homebrew channel as i can not acess the internet on it i assume its 1 of the downloads . also you have losed me on the nus downloader dont know what that is my reigon is pal

Google is your best friend ;) surely if you are able to access these forums you have internet access of some kind... lol any region changer is the application you will need :)

You need WiFi for Anyregion Changer dont you? If the Wii is semi-bricked and no settings, then there is no WiFi.

What firmware where you on when you semi-bricked?

If it was a early enough firmware you might be able to use a Semi-brick fix discs which you can get HERE. Or a newer game that will update the system menu to 4.0 firmware (I don't think any game has 4.1 yet).

Or use NUS and download a system menu to install manually (NUS is ran from PC and downloads wad files to be installed by WAD manager).
