I'd say the reason this is not answered yet is because most the people on these forums are in the UK or Ireland.

What exactly do you want to do?
Bring the box back to the UK?
They are just rebroadcasting free to air satellite channels and charging you for a box and aerial.

that box wont pick up anything in Ireland as far as I can make out, please post the model number of your box to confirm.
For FTA in Ireland you need a sat dish pointed at the astra2 satellite(sky) and any FTA reciever or a skybox without card will get you a good few channels

Firstly you will need to know what satellite you are pointing to in Spain and see if its possible to align a dish in Ireland to that satellite , because we are north of Spain this may be a problem or may just require a large dish at the correct position , there is a useful tool on this site that will give you the correct angles for your address

What you have is not sat , its mmds the spanish company are just rebroadcasting sat over an mmds network , a setup like this was recently closed down in the alicante area. You will not receive that service here . DVB C boxes can only receive cable signals
