as far as i know from the forum there is no starview 5(just starview 4 usb). starviews are ok but it seems support is limited to starview 4(you do have to be carefull flashing starview4 usb,as the box can be bricked and then will need jtagging)you can get the correct firmware and loader by clicking on the link in my signature). if your worried get a max 232 interface, cost about £15 in maplins(this allows you to flash your box using a 9 pin null modem cable instead of the usb route)it involves opening the box and unplugging the connection to the usb socket at the rear of your box and plugging in the max232 interface in to the now empty usb connection. you now can flash as with an older starview. if you are looking for a good box with great support you could try arnet kryptview.

ok, just to make sure you are loading correctly are you following these instructions? - connect the USB stick to the SV4, turn the box on, press the HDD button on the remote, on the screen you will see the BIN file you put on,using the remote, highlight the file and then press OK, on the screen, it will tell you its updating and dont remove the USB.

hi, you will need a max 232 adaptor to fix this error
Fix For Error 8882
Use loader GTROM-V25 loader
1. Connect RS232 Null Modem cable between PC & Max 232 Adaptor
2. Open the lid of your sv4 and look directly behind the USB you will see a 4 Pin connector
Looking at this from front view pin 1 = vcc+ Pin2 =TX Pin 3 = RX Pin 4= Ground
3. Using your max232 Adaptor connect the Wires to corosponding pins Vcc to vcc Tx to Tx Rx to Rx Ground To Ground
4. Select Serial port COM 1 Etc Baud Rate Fixed As 115200.
5. Browse the BIN file to download and select File Type
6. Click "DOWNLOAD" first and turn the receiver power OFF/ON to download
7. After download completed ,wait another 30 seconds more until rebooting finished.
I hope this will get you all out of this misery of error8882 Attached is the loader and bin file
Needed
8. if Error Appears check the reason an try againor follow the reason displayed

if you have recently purchased the box you really should return to supplier for a replacement or refund as opening your box will void any warranty!!!!

jj67 clearly tells you what to do in the above post, you need to jtag the box in the way he has told you so that the box will accept the new software, once you have the 8882 error on, the tsop on the box needs to be re-written as it has become corrupted, you will need the max232, and also download the loader from the download section, and carefully follow the instructions outlined above by jj67. you will not be able to apply the update by the usb until you have jtagged the box.
