ok firstly........ yeah there are a 'few' tut's on how to do it. By far the best are those written by Leerage on here, they cover all drives found in 360's at the moment.

Next, you have to reflash the stock fw back to your drive first before upgrading to 1.6 but JF makes you do it anyway to stop you overwriting already flashed fw.

Lastly all games should be backward compatable.

hope this helps

Hi GTA2787

I've just checked the JF tut and it tells you how to flash / reflash each type of drive whether it is stock or not. The only thing you need to know is which version of fw is currently installed.

And to be honest your gonna have to open the case anyway so just read the top of the drive once your in :) at least you wont damage the drive facia trying to look at wires and colours and you'll know instantly what you have got to play with.

Dealing with the Samsung, BenQ, and Lite-ON, you can write custom firmware over custom firmware. The only drives you can not do that with is the Hitachis. You must restore them to stock and then write the new custom firmware.

Unfortunately I have exceeded my bandwidth with Photobucket so my pics aren't working in my tutorials right now. Should be back up in 2 days though.

As for dealing with firmware whether it be stock or custom, all you have to do is dump the firmware and spoof the info to the new firmware. So it won't matter if you have stock or custom, just follow the procedure. Dump -> Spoof -> Flash.

@ leerage yeah soz bout that i should of explained that better and i was only saying about the fw version because it affects the way you get the drive into vendor mode..... :)

I made tutorials for a Stock 74850C Lite-ON, a Flashed 74850C Lite-ON, and a Stock 83850C. You will need to open up your 360 and look at the top of the DVD drive. On the sticker in the lower left hand corner is the firmware revision.

thanks for the links. One thing I wanted to know is that I got my xbox flashed in jan 2009 and I know its a lite on ,so what version of ixtreme I might be having. I know it cannot be 1.6,it has to be 1.5 or 1.5.1 I guess.

PS: i cannot play wav3 games is it because the game was not stealth patch or because it has older version of ixtreme cause i heard that 1.5.1 wont play non stealth games

you have the 7 series lite-on with iextreme 1.5 on it. just load your dummy bin into JF and load ixtreme 1.6 and click spoof to source. then proceed with the flashing.

only way you can play non-stealth games is via the one-shot boot method. burn the activate.iso to the first layer of a dual layer disc, insert it and let it run for about 30 seconds, eject it, and put in your 'non stealth' game.

or just make sure you buy stealth games.

That is used in iXtreme 1.6 for booting games that have NO stealth.
