Hello everyone

I'm going to buy Wii. I found two types, Korean Wii(modded with modchip, English menu) and USA Wii (also modded with modchip), I found those two in where I live.

My goals: I want to play every Gamecube/Wii games whither it is NTSC nor PAL. so I've heard that the Korean one is incompatible with GC games..

- Is that true, even if it is already modded(modchip)?
- If that modchip have a stealth mode to still hide from the system updates that's will never break it systemly?

The reason why I'm thinking to get the Korean one because it's cheaper than the USA one.

Notes :

- I don't know about what modchip it has, I'll ask the buyer soon.

- I spent 2 hours of searching, so I have a lot of infos so far, and this thread is my first in the internet about this topic.

- GC games are SO important to me, and I know that I have to use GC controllers or Memcards to play GC games.

Any, any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

depending on the modchip you can change your system to region free allowing your system to run all gamecube games. As for wii games if you run another system game for example you have a korean wii trying to run an ntsc game , some games are going to require an update. You need to wii scrubber it and remove the update partition yourself or you need to brick block it.

If i were you i would go for the korean wii, cause its cheaper and you just need to brick block all your wii games. Since gamecube games do not require an update, just set your wii to region free. Since i dont know what type of mod chip you have youll have to ask the guy selling you that system and ask for the configuration disk.

hmm, is the modchip does that duty by itself, like Ps2 for example?

okay, I thought that the Korean one doesn't have the slots to put the GC controller or the memorycard!...and that's right?

What version do you have, and what modchip do you have?
and how about the softmod?

Big thanks for answering me man.

You need to convert the Korean region system to a USA region in order to softmod it.

I also heard that Korean systems are not Game Cube backward compatible. So as far as I know you can't play GC games on Korean system.

I would recommend getting the USA version just because you would avoid hassle trying to softmod the Korean system if you choose to.
