I saw it was all in caps and stopped reading. Read the rules and try again?

Easiest way is to extract it to the desktop and when you go install new hardware make sure you direct it to the exact folder on the desktop you put it in.

Super lost at the moment also.

I've located several threads regarding this issue and noone seems to have any information on how to solve this problem.

I've been trying for several hours to install Portio32 on my XP 32-bit system and I keep getting the following error message.

I noticed when I extract the portio32 zip file, the "portio32.sys" refuses to copy no matter what I do. Does anyone know how to fix this? It has been an extremely frustrating process thus far.

Refuses to copy, in which way? An error pops up saying it cannot be extracted or nothing appears?

I'm not sure, but I would assume windows automatically hides any files with the .sys ending. Could it be as simple as enabling that?

This is the error that continuously pops up whenever i try to manually copy the file from the zip folder to my desktop or another folder.

If its something as simple as enabling it .. I have no idea how to do it.

It's official. For some strange reason my system will not install portio32 because it can not handle the "portio32.sys" file.

1. I have tried installing it from a USB drive (and it deletes the file automatically).
2. I had someone from Winford IO email me the sys file and my system will not download the attachment.
3. I burned the portio32 files to a CD and when I try to install it the portio32.sys file causes an error message to pop up.

Has anyone had this problem or know what's going on?

My system - Windows XP Home Edition - NET Framework 3.5

Thanks.

Is your PC seeing it as a virus? Turn off your AV

Finally figured out how to fix this extremely annoying problem.

Thanks to the help of WJ99.

I was trying to preserve the usage of my antivirus program by just disabling the firewall but it still would not install portio32.

Solution: Uninstalled Antivirus completely. Working 100% now. The End. :-)

No problem. I think it's unsigned so some AV's may see it as a virus. If you have real time protection, it may stop you doing it without you knowing about it. What AV are you using just in case someone else has the same problem?
