You must have got a disgruntled microsoft worker, i've sent my xbox 360 in twice with e73 out of 1 year warranty and they fixed it both times... I just attach a note saying that it switches between e73 and 3 rrod.

That's pretty much hit and miss, it depends on the "quality" (for lack of a better word) of the microsoft employee. Some people have sent in xbox's with the x-clamp fix done, and microsoft fixes them. With the breaking in four months issue, I have had one of my xbox's repaired 5 times for rrod. But usually when ms fixes them they fix them for good.
@ Wabashman, that was a nice buy... I can bearly find any xbox's on ebay australia for less than $80 that haven't been opened.
What I wanted to know was if Microsoft would repair/replace a console with rrod under warranty again and again for free as long as it has been less than three years since purchase? So I buy a new 360 with a three year warranty. Three months later it gets the rrod. I send it to MS and they repair/replace it for free but then it breaks again in five months time. Will they repair/replace it for free again because it is still under three years old or because it has been fixed before, will they charge? Thanks in advance!
You can get it repaired multiple times under the 3 year 3 rrod/E74 warranty. They will also give you a 3 month full warranty after it has been repaired (3 year 3 rrod warranty is still valid after 3 months)
