Xbox 360 system update preps Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm

If you're playing hooky from work or school today to get in some quality time with Halo 3: ODST, you know that a mandatory system update is putting a pause on your action. Major Nelson reports that the new system update doesn't bring any immediate changes to the Dashboard and only prepares some backend support for the upcoming additions of Twitter, Facebook and Last.fm to Xbox Live later this year.
Oh, and if you do decide to link up your Twitter and Facebook accounts to your Xbox 360 when that update launches, be careful about faking sick when the next Halo rolls out. We'd hate for your boss or principal to find out you're all too well "pwning n00bs!"

you mean it wasnt an update to find out if i had hacked FW or not?!?! oh wow, i feel so much better now knowing im not going to get banned. or did they just say this is what is was for and were secretly running tests to find out who's a pirate and who isnt?

We'll see. I had planned on waiting before updating, but I was outside and my wife wanted to play Scene it 2, and she accepted the update. So yeah, I'll wait and see what happens.

They are having MAJOR problems with this update. A lot of connection issues. I just tried playing some COD4 on and kept getting kicked.

Phhew i have 2 xboxes, one for "backups" and one to go online. I was a lil worried about updating the console with x1.51 (hitachi) Is it allright to update these boxes?

i played for awhile last night and i did notice at one point in the game we were all on the same connectoin, nothing changed, and it got laggy as hell.

I had to update last night, noticed gta was laggy as hell and after dying from a mosquito landing on my shoulder, i gave up and went to bed.

Updated one of my consoles yesterday, no problems for me so far.
Argghhhh don't say that about GTA IV, that's the only game i actually play :p
I'll go and update the other one now it's on my mind.

Im going to upgrade my backup box tonight.. If people are worried wouldnt it make sence to go back to ORginal FW first and then reflash or is just not worth the effort. Especially in this case since it seems to be a nothing upgrade...

Upgraded and it fine... was forced to upgrade soon as I attached my HD to the backup box. Still plays backups with ix1.51..im on a hitachi079
