Restoring the NAND question

While I was reading the Wii hacking guide by larrylje, someone told him there was no use for the NAND backup when bootmii was installed as IOS if you didn't have have preloader installed but larrylje said that it didn't matter not having preloader because there is a way to restore the NAND without it (without preloader I mean).
Does anyone know how can this be done?

A NAND programmer (Infectus) and a compatible image of your back up of your wii's NAND including the console specific keys.
