Okay, I have been searching for about 2-3 hours over the internet, google, bing, and here at the AfterDawn forums getting nothing but stuff I can't even comprehend. I have absolutely no knowledge of Xbox 360 modding what-so-ever, but I am technically savvy, and have softmodded Wii's time-and-time again, so I'm comfortable opening my 360, etc. but I haven't found a single guide as to what DVD drive my 360 has, or a guide on how to flash, install iX 1.5, and everything else that goes with that. So if anyone could PLEASE point me in the right direction, I would be ever thankful...

X360 nub in need.

Really? Google "Xbox 360 dvd drive" find out which one you have and then find a tutorial. You have obviously not searched for this because there is a sticky at the top of this page which tons of threads on flashing and modding.

Haven't even seen a thread, and I found a guide from 2006, and somehow managed to figure out that I have a BenQ. I'll check the stickies again...

Ah, I must have missed the top most sticky...sorry about that...running through it now...searched iXtreme, IX, IXtreme 1.5, and numerous other things...both google, and AfterDawn search engines ;-; AfterDawn had 10 hits and nothing was about a single guide, all about bans or troubleshooting.

You have to run a 32-bit OS to do this...?? That's...crap.

Also, that's just flashing, I need like step by step from day 1...opening the xbox, everything. Nvm found the textbook.

yeah, 32 bit works best if you want to flash in windows. I believe if you have 64 bit you can uses Iprep to boot from a usb drive though.

And if you have a benq, flash it with 1.6

Well I have a 64-bit, I'll look into the iPrep, hoping I don't have to go to Win7 32-bit. Another question I have is if my onboard SATA will work? And yes, flashing with 1.6, but I don't even have the 360 opened yet for fear of me not being able to flash without a PCI Card, and the fact that I may have to solder it as the textbook says without a VIA card or NForce chipset you have to solder a switch ;-;.
I also have my 360 totally up-to-date will that be any problem?

Any ideas, I've searched through Google about sata compatability but I can't find anything for JungleFlasher, just DosFlash, and early versions...the Textbook doesn't have anything compatability wise about BenQ drives, just Samsung and Hitachi.

wouldn't it be faster to just try it on your own versus sit and wait?

If you open it cleanly (carefully removing warranty sticker, and not putting any marks on the back) the warranty won't be voided.
