I know it seems a repeated thread...but this is a bit more troublesome

I got a Japanese Wii 3 years ago. Haven't turn on and update the firmware for about 2 years. Yesterday I took it out (without wireless connection), put in a newest downloaded NHL2k10, the I forgot everything that I shouldn't update firmware from any game...and i did it. Yeah, they are all Japanese. I admit that I am so stupid! While the updating, I realized I shouldn't do that, so I quickly turned off the console. HOW STUPID I WAS!!!

Now, the Wii is semi-bricked. I couldn't go to the setting page. I downloaded Wii Fit Jap version, it does ask me to update the firmware, and I did that. This time successful, but still cannot open the setting page.

Treid the XXX-Jap-288-repad.iso disc, didn't work as the screen is showing some Japanese characters telling I properly unplug the power before while updating the firmware and ask me to refer to the user manual.

I guess no one is as stupid as I am...but hopefully someone can pelase enlighten me and guide me what should I do next to fix my Wii?

thanks in advance!

I got it fixed.

Finally I found out that the IOS was corrupted.

I was able to install homebrew channel. But couldn't use the wad manager to update the IOS30_1040.wad and SystemMenu-v288.wad.

After I used the TPR package to fix the IOS, I was able to update the system menu...finally...

Not be able to read Japanese is such a pain in the XXX. I am going to take Japanese class now! LOL.

There is a way to convert systems to different regions. Do a google search for AnyRegionChanger. This can be dangerous if you don't know what your doing. So if you decide to do it make sure you learn before doing.
