Yeah I got a letter the other day. Does anyone know for sure how this is going to work? Are Ch##us going straight to nagra3? Or are they going down the nagra2 route first like Nthell did? I'm hoping they go straight to N3 as the box I have is the old starview 3. Hopefully they'll just hit the same channels Nthell did and leave the rest on n1!

If what you are saying is true, then that should mean most of the channels will be left on Nagra1 for a while anyway. No N2 fix will be needed. Old Starviews and Eurovoxes will still be able to receive most channels.

They are still a long way off the final phase.
They are swapping out the cards on the Chorus cable network but nothing has happened on the mmds network yet.

They are in the final phase of the card swap (For higher tier customers anyway)..

And they are also in the middle of changing over all ex chorus MMDs customers to NTL (No need for a card swap)

???
All ex Chorus mmds to ntl ? What does that mean.
I presume you mean they are changing from dvb-t to dvb-c ?
In that case they would not only need a card swap but a receiver swap too.
They are only changing over a few Chorus MMDS regions.

Guys , Ch***s swaped me from mmds to cable a few months back. So the boxes that stopped working in Dublin work here in kildare on cable. I now have receieved a new card and told that i need to install it for a security update to ensure service.

My questions , if i install it and put back my SV will it work?
If i dont install and just leave the SV what will happen ?

Thanks for any help in advance

the card will only do there box so to prevent you from getting a blank screen,it has nothing to do with other boxes, maybe a factory reset and autoscan on sv when things change to n3 and see what channels are left.
also note in places mmds =t box changing to a c box so wont work then.

well if they are changing customers over from mmds to cable then they have better start digging up the roads and laying cable as there is no cable in areas for thousands of mmds customers.;-)

There are new boxes on order for the mmds areas, below is a link for the latest one for the Nagra3 encryption, which are been purchased by upc.

NEW MMDS BOXES

so they wont be changing all the mmds areas to cable, only the ones that have cable in the same areas.

And cards are nearly fully rolled out now, in most cho*** areas, so only a matter of time now before movies and sport is gone.

you need to put the card in your subbed box, if not when they change over you will have a blank screen on that box, after you update your providers box you can then plug the other box in after as for how long it will last after full roll out of cards is anyone's guess weeks, days, months.
