Tools for flashing (do i have everything?)

Hi everyone, I've just been doing my shopping so i can start flashing, i want to update my (already flashed) liteon first and then take it from there. I want to flash from my laptop, so i bought a compatable pcmcia sata and CK3 pro, do i need anything else, maybe an external molex power supply? or does the 360 have a molex cable free that i can use to power the CK3 pro? I don't really want to spend another 15 euro on an external molex supply. Thanks for your advise!

You can use the molex inside the Xbox itself, however I would buy one anyway.

oh ok, thanks for your help. so if i use the molex inside the xbox i can power the ck3 with that, and then the dvd drive with the ck3? is there such a thing as a usb to molex power cable? then i could just use one usb port on my laptop to connect to the ck3, another one to power it, and finally a sata cable?

if your going to use the 360 to power the drive while flashing, then dont waste your money on the ck3. and you dont even need it for updating an already flashed lite-on.
just load your dummy.bin into JF, load in iextreme 1.6, click spoof to source, and flash it like normal. ck3 is only needed when dumping the FW for the first time.
side note--
the 360 wouldnt work for powering the ck3 anyways, as it doesnt use molex connections. so now sure why wj99 even stated that.

ok, so even if i didnt flash it myself last time i don't need CK3? i already ordered it last night, but i was planning on doing a few flashes for friends so i dont mind having bought it. It's just a pain in the ass putting everything together to flash here, cause i'm away from home for the year and only have a laptop with me

no, you didnt need it. but you will need to find a way to power the ck3 when flashing virgin drives. your laptop will not be capable of powering it, nor will the 360 itself.

The CK3 or any DVD connectivity is for convenience. It is a pain to lug around a 360. Another plus is you aren't dealing with constant power. The connectivity kits usually have ON/OFF switches which helps when you are dealing with power. No unplugging the DVD drive cable.
But as wabashman said, they aren't really need. If you are doing this just for yourself, you don't need the CK3. However, if you plan on doing others, personally I would recommend getting one. There are a majority of drives out there with the 74850C Lite-ON which require the probe.

Never knew about not needing the CK3 for updating. Just realised about the power inside the Xbox. Completely forgot.
