Hi All, I've had a virgin ANALOGUE box (basic package) for years and had my Starview 2 box working with it. They have switched off analogue now in my area due to the Digital Switch over and I now need to get a digital box from them. I've heard of Vbox & V+box but all I want is a basic box so that my Starview will continue to work? What box do I need exactly, is it just a V BOX? If anyone else has this or can help me, I'll appreciate it. I'm not interested in bigger packages etc, just want the basic and want to make sure the digital box will alow my Starview 2 to work still...
Cheers

well firstly the SV2 is digital box, so if its been working up to now, its been working on a Digital feed, so once you keep a sub (normal chans, not a sub box) with them, the box will work and continue to work

It doesn't matter what they give you. You don't even need to have it switched on for the SV to work.

Ok cheers, so I should just ask for the very basic package and it will all be ok? I already have a phone line with them and apparently they offer the basic M box FREE if you have the phone line.

Would this be ok then?

Cheers for the replies.

Fine. As long as your feed is live then you're sorted.

Apparently Installation is £30 if an engineer comes and installs my new box. Is there a way I can install it myself, is it just a matter of connecting the V BOX up similar to my old analogue box or is there more to it?
It says that you will get a box free if you take the phone line service, does this include existing customers that already have the phone service? I've tried searching on there site but no joy, and if possible would prefer to install the basic box myself...
Appreciate any help.

if you have a connection in your house you can ask for them to send out your box and you can wire it up urself, its 11 quid a month for the phone line and the basic package together, its pretty easy to set up.

Yeah I have the phone service with them already, for the last few years, but does there offer of a free M box still count for existing customers that have phone line or is it for new customers only?

As I say, my analogue service has now been switched off with them and just need a basic box but they have told my old man an engineer will be out next week to install it. If it's just a case of connecting the basic box up indoors then I can do that, and don't see why someone needs to be sent out probably because they want the installation fee! But if it takes 5 mins to do, then I'm hoping they will still send the M Box to me as I'm an existing customer already with the phone service and tv service that they have now switched off...

Dean, ring them and ask whats involved with the deal and whats not!

did you see my reply above at all?

If you have a SV2 running already, there is a digital signal coming to your house already, whether you take a sub box from virmin is a mute point, just plug your SV in and thats it,

Analogue and Digital feed are different. Whether they turn it of or not wont effect you as you have a digital feed already if a SV or similar has been working on it, so I dont see what your prob is????

Ring them and clarify the deal,

Tried ringing them mate a number of times, and get put through to India and they don't seem to understand the situation and it's also difficult to have convo with them, got no joy by email either. Yes I read what you said above, but I've always been told even on here to have the basic cable package just incase they check your line, and I run the starview box at the same time on a splitter. Are you saying just forget about analogue and leave my starview on, isn't that risky? As I was paying for the analogue service, I thought it was better to just get there basic box again and connect it up? Especially if it's free, just wondered if they do send there boxes out and if it's an easy install...

The company box is well worth having for the on demand services. It's a great feature.
